XII. Jewish Summer Festival in Budapest!

kicsi_shebaBUDAPEST By now, the Jewish Summer Festival is one of Hungarys most important, most visited and most interesting cultural art events.
Even strata of the population usually less interested all year round in cultural events are drawn to this event held on the last week of summer. Visitors may gain a glimpse into a culture they are not really familiar with and can become part of it. They can get to know the traditions and holidays of a several thousand-year-old culture, and in addition see artists and performers who will offer them a once in a lifetime experience.

The second most important asset of the festival is the fact that it serves as a meeting point for representatives of art coming from a different cultural backgrounds and calls attention to aspects, genres and styles which were less know previous to the festival. Over the ten years of the festival several other cities in Hungary joined the programs. The goal of this internationally renowned event series, that by know has a European and global status, is to introduce Jewish culture to as many people as possible and with the diversity of the programs, to put an emphasis on how important it is for cultures to live peacefully with each other.
Jewish cultural heritages is not only a tourism attraction.

The programs: Sephardic Magic with Bea Palya, Handel Evening with Szilvia Karaszy and the Solti Chamber Orchestra, Cuban Sephardic Journey, Klezmer and Jazz –Jewish Melodies from the Balkans, Mendelssohn Chamber Music Evening, Songs from Jerusalem, Cantor concert, Wine Dinner in Kosher Style, Concert of the Budapest Klezmer Band and the Judrom Gipsy Klezmer Band in Dohany street Synagogue,
Gavriel Lipkinds Cello Concert in Museum of Fine Arts, and free Mega concert of Siblings Linda, Viktor, Benjamin Kiraly in Symbol Budapest – organizers of the Festival welcome all open minded people who view tolerance and understanding of other cultures as basic human values.

A Flamenco Drama a new and original production based on the controversial Biblical story of King David and Bat –Sheba.
A personal artistic interpretation by Michael Natan, buit in a unique stage language a flamenco drama. King David and Bat –Sheba is a moving and inspiring production full of energy and emotion performed by 12 dancers, combining flamenco with neoclassical ballet.

Is King David and Bat –Sheba a Love story or a story of Treason?
On things is sure its full of intrigues, conspiracy, lust and love.
Compas Dance Company was foundad in 1995 by the flamenco dancer and the choreographer Michael Natan. Compas regulary works in collaboration with different creators from a variety of fields: music, theater, fine arts, contemporary and classical ballet with flamenco. The variety creates a richer and emotional experience for the audience.

The flamenco is a style of quitar playing that originated in Spain by Gypsy people who were living there at the time. It is usually played on an acoustic quitar and accompanied by Flamenco dancers who are famous for their elaborate costumes.
The dance is very fast and you move your feet a lot.
Flamenco in a spanish musical genre with origins in Andalusia, it is embodies a complex musical and cultural tradition.
In the 19th century the perceived romance of flamenco and the gypsies became popular throughout Europe. Cante flamenco is foreigners often think flamenco is primarily a dance from. However the origin and heart of flamenco is the song.
The professional flamenco dancers are usually older than other dancers and have a longer career.
The classical flamenco is the style used in some spanish flamenco dance companies and maintained by some to be authentic.
