BUDAPEST A free garden theater at the heart of the city. The Festival of Space, Movies and Music (Tér-Film-Zene Fesztivál) has been organized for the sixth time in the capital city and for the very first time on the countryside. The festival could be visited between the 27th of July and the 2nd of August. Those who were in the cinema at Baja, where the closing day took place, could experience the national premier of One Water, a movie filmed in fourteen countries altogether. “Why has been the premier held on Baja?” I asked one of the cinema’s visitors, an engineer who was born in Kenya who now lives here for forty years. “Because, the water, the river here has a great influence on the town’s function, atmosphere and the everyday life of the townspeople,” answered Delhem, a student of aqua economics who also plays on African drums. “Your international staff was shooting the film on Kenya, Hungary, Budapest and Baja, and it went on in a fantastic mood. How many hours have they spent here?” ![]() Cziglán Tamás, Budapest ‘As far as I know they have been shooting the film in fourteen different countries. They merely have been here for a couple of days, but they loved the city, the river and the music!” “Did you know that the staff was working on several places around the world from Tanzania to Japan, from Bolivia to India?” “Oh yes! The movie has shown how people handle drinking water, the enormous vanity of the western world, the fact that day by day over 1.5 million people are unable to get clean fresh water.” “Will the director of the film, the Indian-American Sanjeev Chatterjel, also be there at the premiere?” “I’ve just heard that he’ll be here; the festival is definitely a good reason for the premiere to take place here. In both Africa and Europe water is life. Water is a real treasure that we aren’t appreciating enough; this is what the director tries to draw our attention to with the help of his film. This American documentary of 68 minutes tells us about the drinking water supply of planet earth, about the bond between humanity and water.” H2O: the cornerstone of life on Earth. To learn the value of a glass of water one needs to experience massive heat and deserts. Image: Archive |
