BUENOS AIRES Last Saturday, April 25, Buenos Aires city celebrated once again the Buen Dia Festival, a cultural event that puts together live music shows and the latest art trends. ![]() Official Poster of the event The Buen Dia –literally ‘God Day’- has been taking place since 1999 and particularly promotes young new artists coming from different disciplines, artists that are off the mainstream commercial path. Organizers invite them to come along and reveal their art in one same open space, encouraging interaction by creating a network to share experiences throughout the year. Just like the last editions, the twelve-hour event –from noon to midnight- was held at the Planetarium in the Palermo parks. ![]() People relaxing at the Buen Dia Festival On one side, alterno bands performed on stage. This year’s live music line-up included more than a dozen bands featuring Los Pibitos, Michael Mike, Los Labios, The Flowers Orchestra and Rusia among others. On the other side, artists displayed their works in a line of booths: independent music labels and publishers, new fashion design, vintage and retro design, creative objects and original accessories. ![]() Crowded booths at the Festival Over the last days, Buenos Aires seems to take no notice of what the calendar says. It’s autumn on this side of the hemisphere but temperature is climbing up to 29 degrees. So, those who made it during daylight hours got plenty of sun to enjoy themselves in the green surroundings. Some people would buy clothes while some others just looked on and discovered odd items like nylon ribbons with different motif designs or creative objects like a bench made of plastic bottle tops. ![]() Fashion Design As the sun went down, the wind began to blow, but the late-comers were just arriving ready for the evening shows. By that time, the food booth was the busiest one, handmade veggie pies and baking pastries were all the rage. ![]() Los Labios performing on stage In the evening, the whole place seemed to have transformed into a spaceship setting with the stage strategically set with the brightly-lit planetarium as background. The crowd quivered in excitement. It was only well past midnight when the crowd finally bade farewell to the planetarium. ![]() Buen Dia Festival at the Planetarium Another good day had come to an end in Buenos Aires. |
